Trade Bodies

Monitoring and guiding the industry on your behalf

When buying Timeshare it is important that you choose a company that is affiliated to or accredited by the main Timeshare trade bodies.
Resort Properties is both affiliated to RDO and has had all its resorts accredited by TATOC.
  • Non profit
  • Impartial advice
  • Ensure fairness
As an owner with Resort Properties, you can rest assured that you will receive the very best protection as set out by these industry regulators.

Resort Properties is proud to be a member of the two main official trade bodies that regulate the Timeshare industry - the RDO (Resort Development Organisation) and TATOC (Timeshare Association). These non-profit organisations work closely with their members throughout the industry to improve standards and ensure fair practice.

Background

The RDO (formerly OTE) was created in 1998 to integrate all national Timeshare trade associations into one European direct membership organisation and today has over 130 members all across the industry in Europe. Members include resort developers, management companies, trustees, exchange companies and resale companies. As the RDO says on its website, its members represent the best of European Timeshare, dedicated to excellence and fair trading in the Timeshare industry.
TATOC was established as a limited company in 1989. At first, it was a networking group for members of Timeshare owners' committees. Today it has dozens of corporate members and affiliates, and its mission statement is to "safeguard and enhance the Timeshare holiday experience for existing and prospective users and to be the voice of owners."

Resort Properties' Participation

As one of Europe's leading Timeshare companies, Resort Properties is committed to providing its clients with comprehensive information and advice. Its Managing Director sits on the RDO Board of Management and the Executive Committee, actively influencing the policy-making decisions that positively affect all of Resort Properties' owners. Our resorts are also accredited to TATOC, having satisfied the strict rules in its Resort Accreditation Process.
As an owner with Resort Properties, you can rest assured that you will receive the very best protection as set out by these industry regulators, whose main objectives are listed below.

RDO Mission

  • Improve representation for reputable Timeshare companies and promote fair trading, quality within and growth of the Timeshare industry
  • Help member companies achieve excellence in the Timeshare industry by adhering to the RDO Code of Conduct and legal directives from the European Parliament
  • Promote Timeshare to governments and raise awareness to improve regulatory standards
  • Engage the European media to endorse the Timeshare success story
  • Organise events, conferences and seminars where member companies can network and exchange expertise

TATOC Mission

  • Promote high quality standards for resort facilities and amenities and encourage efficient management of Timeshare resorts
  • Campaign on matters relating to Timeshare and owners by talking to industry bodies and the government
  • Represent and communicate with its member resorts and owners' committees, responding to consumer issues and concerns
  • Become the recognised voice of Timeshare owners in Europe and discourage bad practice
  • Advise TATOC members on how to enjoy the most from their Timeshare and help them understand legislation
These objectives are more relevant today than ever before. Illegal Holiday Pack companies often attempt to jump on the back of the legitimate and successful Timeshare industry and claim that they are above board - when they simply do not fulfil legal requirements or belong to the industry trade bodies.
With Resort Properties you are guaranteed to own a genuine Timeshare product, protected by all the appropriate laws.
